EYFS Statutory Framework

The EYFS sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

Children learn through play at Marlborough House. The environment is set up using our knowledge of children.  We use our expertise from continuous training and the studying of children and ongoing observations and planning to benefit children. Ensuring our plans are always at the heart of a child's interests.

All areas of the EYFS are implemented throughout the session with children learning independently and with adult led activities provided.

The Prime areas of the EYFS are:

  • Personal social emotional development (PSED)

  • PSED is promoted by helping children understand that they are important to us. We help them learn the routine and become independent thinkers.

  • We promote and role model positive friendships.  The children learn to be respectful and how to interact with others successfully.

  • Communication Language and Literacy

  • We have a rich environment of language and use many story opportunities to promote the love of words.

  • Children are helped to expand their vocabulary and speak and listen to one an other in many situations.

  • Physical development.

  • We provide many opportunities to be active in our environment.

  • We use the outside areas throughout the session and year round, the children are encouraged to enjoy the outside environment for all activities just as they do indoors.

Specific Areas of the EYFS are:

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive arts and design.

Key Person

A key person will work with each parent to discuss the development of their child. They get to know the child well and help them flourish in the setting, preparing activities around their needs and interests.

A progress check is prepared and shared with parents in our parent consultations. Staff are constantly training with outside agencies and are coached and mentored by the owner/manager who arranges with the practitioner their individual training development.

The Manager supports them at all times to achieve the best for each child.

Parents can access a secure online learning journey that the Early Years practitioner puts together for the child. The parents can add to this any developments using photos or text. Thus working together to support the child in all areas of their learning.
